2012 Tony Recap ~ SPOILER ALERT

SPOILER ALERT ~ If you don’t know who won what yet…STOP!  DO NOT GO ON!

If you do, enjoy the recap of some of the performance highlights and wonderful, heartfelt acceptance speeches.

I thought last night’s Tonys were the best they’ve been in years.  Frankly, I’m glad we had that somewhat abysmal cruise ship performance right there in the middle of an otherwise incredible night of theatre.  It proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that what happens on Broadway stays on Broadway.  The level of talent and expertise that Broadway brings to the table on a nightly basis and twice on Wednesdays and Saturdays simply can not be duplicated.  Perhaps some of the people who worked on that high seas production of “Hairspray” will one day receive a well-deserved Tony.  But they ain’t there yet.

And for the people who are there ~ Hats off to each and every one of you!  Hats off to the nominees and to CBS, for giving us a great show with fewer sound problems than we usually experience and only a few instances where I wanted to fire a slow director for missing something funny or important.  And big kudos to the Spider-Man bit, which was hilarious.

Helmed by the incredible Neil Patrick Harris, the show kicked off to a great start.
